Safety & Weather Policy

Last updated: September 9, 2026

Catch to Table Japan (“CTTJ”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides private sea-to-table experience coordination services that may involve marine activities, fishing, transportation, restaurants, and outdoor environments.

Your safety is our highest priority. This Safety & Weather Policy explains how we handle weather, sea conditions, guest safety, schedule changes, and related matters.

1. Safety Comes First

Marine and outdoor activities involve inherent risks. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Weather changes
  • Waves and wind
  • Slippery surfaces
  • Boat movement
  • Motion sickness
  • Fishing hooks and equipment
  • Sun exposure
  • Cold or heat exposure
  • Physical fatigue
  • Transportation delays
  • Food allergies or dietary risks
  • Unexpected operational changes

We work with experienced local operators and service providers, but no outdoor or marine activity can be made completely risk-free.

By participating, guests acknowledge these risks and agree to follow all safety instructions.

2. Captain’s Judgment

For fishing and boat activities, the captain or vessel operator has final authority regarding:

  • Departure
  • Route
  • Fishing location
  • Fishing method
  • Duration on the water
  • Safety equipment
  • Weather and sea condition assessment
  • Cancellation or early return
  • Emergency decisions

Guests must follow the instructions of the captain, crew, guide, and relevant service providers at all times.

If the captain determines that conditions are unsafe or unsuitable, the fishing activity may be changed, shortened, postponed, or cancelled.

3. Weather and Sea Conditions

Fishing and boat activities depend on weather and sea conditions, including:

  • Wind
  • Waves
  • Rain
  • Thunderstorms
  • Visibility
  • Tides
  • Currents
  • Water conditions
  • Port or marine safety guidance
  • Vessel operator judgment

Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily mean that the activity will be cancelled. Conversely, clear skies do not always mean that sea conditions are safe.

The final decision will be based on safety and operational judgment.

4. Weather-Related Changes

If weather or sea conditions are unfavorable, we may propose one or more of the following:

  • Change of fishing area
  • Change of fishing method
  • Shortened fishing time
  • Later departure
  • Earlier return
  • Rescheduling, if possible
  • Dining-focused experience
  • Fish market visit
  • Culinary or cultural alternative
  • Other substitute experience

The available options depend on the plan, timing, provider availability, restaurant availability, and operational conditions.

5. Cancellation Due to Unsafe Conditions

If the fishing portion is cancelled due to unsafe weather or sea conditions, the 50% deposit is applied toward the dining portion and an alternative visit, such as a fish market or a Japanese knife workshop, subject to availability. The remaining 50% balance is not charged. Where your proposal or confirmation document states different terms, those terms apply.

Depending on the plan, we may provide:

  • Rescheduling
  • A modified itinerary
  • A non-fishing alternative
  • A partial refund
  • Application of the deposit to alternative arrangements
  • Other reasonable options

We do not guarantee that a backup date, boat, restaurant, transportation, or alternative experience will always be available.

6. Backup Dates

If your travel schedule allows, we may discuss a potential backup date.

However, unless expressly confirmed in writing, a backup date is not automatically reserved. Boats, restaurants, guides, vehicles, and other service providers may not be held for multiple dates without separate confirmation or payment.

If weather uncertainty exists close to the date, we will communicate available options as early as reasonably possible.

7. Fishing Results

Fishing results are never guaranteed.

Even in safe and suitable conditions, guests may catch few fish or no fish. The target species, size, quantity, and fishing style may change depending on the season, weather, sea conditions, captain’s judgment, and fish activity.

Poor fishing results do not constitute a safety issue or service failure.

8. Safety Equipment

Guests may be required to wear life jackets or other safety equipment during boat activities.

Guests must use safety equipment as instructed by the captain, crew, or guide.

Failure to comply with safety instructions may result in exclusion from the activity without refund.

9. Clothing and Footwear

Guests should wear practical clothing suitable for marine and outdoor conditions.

Recommended items may include:

  • Non-slip shoes
  • Comfortable layered clothing
  • Waterproof or windproof outerwear
  • Hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Motion sickness medication, if needed
  • Towel
  • Change of clothes, if appropriate
  • Personal medication

High heels, slippery soles, delicate clothing, and expensive items that may be damaged by water, fish, salt, or weather are not recommended.

10. Motion Sickness

Boat movement may cause motion sickness.

Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider taking appropriate motion sickness medication before boarding, after consulting a doctor or pharmacist if necessary.

We are not responsible for discomfort, inability to participate, shortened activity, or other consequences caused by motion sickness.

11. Health Conditions

Guests must inform us in advance of any health condition that may affect participation, including but not limited to:

  • Pregnancy
  • Heart disease
  • Respiratory disease
  • Severe allergies
  • Mobility limitations
  • Recent injury or surgery
  • Severe motion sickness
  • Neurological conditions
  • Any condition requiring special assistance

Depending on the condition, we or our service partners may recommend modifying the itinerary or may refuse participation for safety reasons.

12. Food Allergies and Dietary Safety

Dining experiences may involve seafood, raw fish, shellfish, fish broth, soy, wheat, alcohol, dairy, eggs, nuts, or other allergens.

Guests must inform us in advance of any allergies, dietary restrictions, or religious food restrictions.

We will communicate such information to the restaurant or service provider where relevant, but we cannot guarantee complete elimination of cross-contamination.

Guests with severe allergies should carefully assess their own risk and carry necessary medication.

13. Alcohol and Safety

For safety reasons, alcohol consumption before or during fishing and boat activities may be restricted.

Guests who appear intoxicated or impaired may be refused boarding or participation without refund.

Guests are responsible for their own alcohol consumption during dining or other parts of the experience.

14. Children, Elderly Guests, and Guests Requiring Assistance

Some experiences may not be suitable for young children, elderly guests, or guests requiring physical assistance.

Participation is subject to prior consultation and approval.

Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times.

15. Guest Conduct

Guests must behave safely and respectfully toward:

  • Captains
  • Crew
  • Guides
  • Restaurant staff
  • Drivers
  • Other guests
  • Local residents
  • Marine life
  • Equipment and facilities

Dangerous, abusive, illegal, disruptive, or disrespectful conduct may result in immediate termination of the experience without refund.

16. Emergency Situations

In an emergency, guests must follow the instructions of the captain, crew, guide, driver, restaurant staff, emergency services, or other responsible personnel.

We may share necessary personal information, health information, location information, or emergency contact details with medical providers, emergency responders, service partners, or authorities when reasonably necessary for safety or emergency response.

17. Travel Insurance

Travel insurance covering medical treatment, emergency evacuation, and trip cancellation is required for participation. Please provide your policy number and emergency contact at the time of booking.

Your policy must cover:

  • Medical expenses
  • Emergency treatment
  • Trip cancellation
  • Weather disruption
  • Personal belongings
  • Outdoor or marine activities
  • Travel delays

Guests are responsible for confirming whether their insurance covers fishing, boating, marine activities, and related experiences.

18. Personal Belongings

Guests are responsible for their own belongings.

We are not responsible for loss, theft, water damage, salt damage, fish-related stains, breakage, or damage to personal items, including cameras, smartphones, watches, bags, clothing, and valuables.

Guests should avoid bringing unnecessary valuables on board.

19. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Safety & Weather Policy from time to time.

The updated version will be effective when posted on our website, unless otherwise stated.
